SUMMARY: While many celebrate Thanksgiving at home, U.S. troops stationed abroad feel the distance. CBS’s Tina Krauss reports that soldiers overseas are enjoying traditional meals with cultural twists, such as Korean foods like kimchi, while over 28,000 troops in South Korea receive special dining from higher-ranking officers. The Pentagon shipped 700,000 pounds of food globally, including nearly 140,000 pounds of turkey and a variety of side dishes and desserts. Soldiers express gratitude for their service, camaraderie, and the chance to work in their dream jobs, but many miss their families and friends the most.

While many of us are enjoying a home-cooked Thanksgiving meal with loved-ones, US troops stationed abroad will be feeling the miles more than most. CBS reports.
