Missouri legislature to tackle border security, immigration | Missouri
SUMMARY: Missouri state Sen. Jill Carter plans to introduce legislation to enhance border security and resource allocation for law enforcement in response to rising border-related crimes in her district. After meeting officials in Texas, she aims to proactively address the impacts of a border crisis affecting communities far from the U.S.-Mexico border, including Jasper and Newton counties. With concerns over crime linked to illegal immigration, including a recent murder involving undocumented migrants, Carter underscores the strain on local services from an influx of refugees, notably from countries designated as security threats. She emphasizes the need for effective measures to protect residents and ensure accountability to taxpayers.
