Brian Storey Life Sentence Upheld | Nov. 25, 2024 | News 19 at 6 p.m.
SUMMARY: The Alabama Appeals Court has upheld the life sentence of Brian Story for the 1997 execution-style murder of convenience store employee Nicole Williamson. Charged at 17, Story’s appeal for re-sentencing was based on a U.S. Supreme Court ruling that prohibits automatic life sentences without parole for juveniles. Although he argued for reconsideration citing rehabilitation and brain development factors, the court, led by Madison County Judge Chris Comer, concluded that Story was aware of his actions’ wrongfulness at the time of the crime, which involved shooting Williamson twice. Thus, his life sentence remains unchanged.
An Alabama appeals court has rejected a request for a new sentencing in a 1997 case that saw a convenience store clerk shot to death and a 17-year-old charged with capital murder.
