SUMMARY: UNCC researcher Madison Barber and her team made a remarkable discovery of the youngest known planet in space, located in the Taurus molecular cloud, an active stellar nursery. They captured a rare glimpse of this newly formed planet, which is about 3 million years old, in contrast to Earth’s 4 to 5 billion years. The age of the planet was determined through the age of its host star, estimated at just 10 days to 2 weeks old. Remarkably, this is Barber’s third discovery of a newborn planet, highlighting her significant contributions to astronomy.

Madyson Barber, a grad student at the University of North Carolina, was researching young transiting systems in space when she made a remarkable discovery.

However, homeowners are discovering that damage types like flood and mudslides may not be covered by their policies. Disputes also arise over whether damage was caused by wind or flood. Tyson emphasized the lack of flood insurance among homeowners and noted that mudslide coverage is uncommon. The state insurance office offers mediation services for disputed claims at no cost to consumers. They encourage homeowners to call for assistance regarding denied claims.
