Located in Macon, the site holds over 17,000 years of history. The bipartisan bill is supported by senators and representatives, including Raphael Warnock and Sanford Bishop. It would protect cultural and natural resources, boost the local economy, and enhance tourism. The park’s designation would also safeguard the Ocmulgee River’s wildlife corridor. The legislation has broad support, including from Environment Georgia, and has been a long-standing goal since 1934.
