SUMMARY: Mississippi Secretary of State Michael Watson reported a relatively quiet Election Day with no major issues, thanks to vigilant citizens who alerted authorities about potential irregularities. However, voter turnout at around 54-55% was lower than expected, continuing a trend of decline in participation. He noted that absentee ballots, with Harrison County receiving about 14,000, are processed at election headquarters for verification before counting starts after polls close. Counties have ten days to certify and report results. Watson praised the collaborative efforts of Mississippians and election workers in maintaining election integrity.
