Runners finishing Alyssa Lokits's run

Lockett was assaulted by a man who followed her during her run; she was later found shot and succumbed to her injuries at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Her sister-in-law, Abu Lockett, expresses gratitude for the overwhelming global support, emphasizing the family‘s desire to keep Alysa’s memory alive. The event includes a run organized by Fleet Feet and the nation’s run club, gathering participants at 6:30 p.m. for a 2 to 5-mile route.
Runners from across the country will honor Alyssa Lokits on Monday, Nov. 4.

Waverly helps East TN flood victims
SUMMARY: The Waverly community is rallying to assist East Tennessee hurricane victims, a cause close to their hearts after experiencing their own tragedy in 2021 when 20 residents lost their lives during floods. Waverly Cash Saver is currently gathering its second major donation, focusing on cold weather gear such as blankets, jackets, and children‘s books. Owners plan to deliver the donations to Johnson County, having previously sent 80 grills and 100 camping chairs. Co-owner John Curtis emphasized the importance of giving back, recalling the support Waverly received during its recovery. Additionally, FEMA has approved over $16.8 million in assistance for affected households.
The Waverly community is showing up in a big way to help East Tennessee flood victims following Hurricane Helene.

Knox Co. officials see historic voter turnout
SUMMARY: Knox County has set a record for early voting in a presidential election, with approximately 163,000 ballots cast, surpassing the 2020 total by about 10,000 votes. Election Administrator Chris Davis noted that while there have been some complaints about wait times, such issues are typical during elections. He emphasized the importance of having a voting plan as Election Day approaches.
