Texas purchases border properties to continue security, conservation efforts | Texas
SUMMARY: Texas has expanded its border security and conservation efforts by purchasing a 1,402-acre ranch in Starr County, crucial for a future border wall along the Rio Grande. The Texas General Land Office (GLO) has also approved the construction of 1.5 miles of border wall on this property. Texas, the first state to build its own wall, has already constructed over 30 miles. Additionally, the GLO acquired the Brewster Ranch, the largest privately owned ranch in Texas, covering over 350,000 acres, for conservation and security purposes. The state’s actions come amid rising illegal crossings and heightened security concerns in border areas.
