Video shows water tank exploding in NW Houston neighborhood
SUMMARY: In northwest Houston, a water tank explosion has left significant damage to homes, affecting families financially and emotionally. One resident, Kevin Jennings, is suing his insurance company after they denied coverage for the damages, claiming the destruction was caused by surface water rather than the explosion itself, despite video evidence. Jennings reports damages of approximately $116,000 and describes the financial strain of living with his family elsewhere while they seek justice. Meanwhile, another family impacted by the incident has received full insurance coverage. The local municipal utility district claims immunity from liability regarding the explosion.
For roughly three months, homeowners in a Northwest Houston neighborhood have been recovering from devastating damage after a water tank exploded.
On Oct. 4, KPRC 2 reported two different families were batting with their insurance companies about getting coverage for the damage. Since then, one family is finally seeing relief, while the other, is not getting a dime from their insurance.

How can Houston residents make more money from the money they’ve got?
SUMMARY: This morning’s discussion focused on maximizing earnings from existing money by transferring funds from traditional bank savings accounts—often offering minimal interest—to high-yield online savings accounts. Debbie and George, U.S. Army veterans, learned from their son about the potential to earn significantly more with online banks like Synchrony, which offers around 4.5% interest compared to traditional banks’ negligible rates. Financial expert Ted Rossman highlighted that top online savings accounts currently offer rates up to 5%. For example, a $110,000 deposit could yield $500 in a year at 5%, versus just $1 with 0.01% from traditional banks.
KPRC 2’s Bill Spencer is looking into why you might consider moving your money to a bank that will give you back money from interest.
