Trump leads in Georgia in the dozen most-recent polls | Georgia
SUMMARY: As Election Day 2024 approaches, Georgia appears favorable for former President Donald Trump, who has led all recent polls, often by 3% to 5%. Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic candidate following President Biden‘s exit, hasn’t led a poll since mid-October. Historically, Trump lost Georgia in 2020 but exceeded polling predictions by losing narrowly. Both candidates emphasize Georgia’s importance for its 16 electoral votes, contributing to a record early voting turnout, with over 50% of registered voters participating despite no major offices on the ballot. Nonetheless, experts still categorize the race as a toss-up.

Georgia’s new health insurance exchange launches Friday | Georgia
SUMMARY: Georgia has launched its first state-based insurance exchange, Georgia Access, aimed at providing consumers with more choices and retaining funds within the state. This initiative, stemming from the 2019 “Patients First Act,” addresses prior issues with the Affordable Care Act, notably limited provider options, especially in rural areas. Nearly 1.4 million individuals signed up in the past year, with improved marketing strategies reaching communities directly. Commissioner John King highlighted that the switch ensures fee revenue stays in Georgia, enabling lower insurance rates and increased competition. Although faced with some criticism, the program reportedly has decreased reinsurance costs by 15-17%.
