UWA President Dr. Ken Tucker retiring at end of the year, looks back on his tenure and career

Tina Clay to be sworn in on Friday

Clay won the seat by defeating Marcus Cheatham in last Tuesday’s runoff election, following the vacancy left by the former council member.

Rankin County inmate attacked deputy after guilty verdict
SUMMARY: Frankie Lee Lever Sr., a Brandon man convicted of sex crimes, attempted to escape custody after his trial, an incident captured on camera. During the altercation, he tried to overpower a Rankin County Sheriff Deputy, and both ended up on the ground, resulting in the deputy sustaining minor to moderate injuries. Lever, previously scheduled for sentencing in January, now faces additional charges including aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, attempted escape, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, disobeying a police officer, and resisting arrest. He has been booked into the Rankin County Detention Center for treatment.
