Manor High School deadly stabbing leads to school safety concerns | FOX 7 Austin
SUMMARY: A deadly stabbing has reignited concerns about school safety in Texas, despite a federal report indicating a decrease in violent incidents over the past decade. Security expert Randy Sutton emphasizes that schools are often reactive and need to adopt proactive measures. Following the Uvalde shooting, Texas mandates armed security officers on campuses, and some districts are implementing metal detectors. The recent report shows nearly 860,000 violent cases recorded nationwide, with fewer involving weapons. In September 2023, Texas’s I Watch program reported 204 safety-related incidents, more than double previous years, highlighting the ongoing safety challenges in schools.
This deadly stabbing is raising questions again about school safety. A federal report shows that violent acts are down when compared to a decade ago. But a security expert said he is worried some schools may be letting down their guard.

SUMMARY: Residents of Arrowhead subdivision in Florville, Texas, have been struggling with brown, green water from a well managed by Central State‘s Water Resources (CSWR) for two years. Complaints include unbearable chlorine smells and e.coli contamination. Families, reliant on this well for drinking water, report that attempts to get answers or resolutions from the company have been inadequate. Residents are forced to buy bottled water and frequently replace filters due to sediment. CSWR has stated that their disinfection equipment is operational but has not satisfactorily addressed residents’ concerns. The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality is now investigating the situation.

Paxton sues Biden-Harris administration again, this time over mussels | Texas
SUMMARY: Texas has filed a lawsuit against the Biden administration over new federal protections for seven freshwater mussel species in Central Texas, claiming they infringe on property rights and state conservation efforts. Attorney General Ken Paxton argues the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service violated several acts, including the Endangered Species Act. The lawsuit contends that the USFWS did not consider Texas’s existing conservation measures and that the new regulations undermine economic development. Texas seeks to vacate the rule, asserting it is arbitrary and interferes with state-led wildlife management. The USFWS has not yet responded to the lawsuit.
