SUMMARY: FBI agents conducted a raid this noon in the quiet Hunters Mark neighborhood of Wake County, specifically at a home on Hay River Street, near the Amazon fulfillment center. The operation, visible with agents searching vehicles and the house, involved towing a pickup truck from the scene. A resident, who identified himself as co-owner of an auto repair business, stated that agents were seeking information related to transactions. The community was startled by the early morning activity, and the investigation is ongoing as officials gather more details. Updates will be provided as the situation develops.

The FBI on Tuesday executed a search warrant at a Garner home, and WRAL News spoke to the man who lived there.

Before 9:15 a.m., there was a law enforcement presence at a home on Hay River Street in Garner, within the Hunters Mark subdivision, close to the Amazon Distribution Center on Jones Sausage Road. Agents were coming in and out of the home and searching multiple vehicles parked in the driveway. The agents were opening the doors and hoods of the vehicles, searching through them and taking photos.

A pickup truck was towed away from the home. The scene cleared by 11:45 a.m.

A spokesperson from the FBI could not provide additional details about the search warrant or why agents were at the home, but WRAL News spoke to a man who appeared to live in the home when he got into his car to drive away.

“They just searched my cars and searched me, that’s all,” the man described.

When WRAL News asked the man if he knew what the FBI was looking for, the man answered, “Information, I guess … related to transactions, that’s all they could tell me.”

The man said he is a co-owner of an automotive repair business, and the transactions involved that business.

SUMMARY: Robinson County Sheriff Bernes Wilkins reported heightened security during prisoner Michael McLen’s court hearing. McLen, who pled guilty to the kidnapping and murder of 13-year-old Hana Aguilar and was sentenced to life in prison, made two escape attempts. He first tried using a homemade handcuff key but was stopped by deputies. Returning to prison, McLen grabbed a deputy’s gun during a struggle before being subdued with pepper spray. Eyewitnesses noted his courtroom demeanor seemed insincere, raising questions about potential additional charges from the escape attempts.

Michael Ray McLellan admitted to kidnapping 13-year-old Hania Aguilar from her driveway and then killing her and disposing of her body. The crime happened in November 2018. On Friday, November 22, 2024, he was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Investigators say McLellan tried twice to escape from his prison guards — before and after the hearing.
