I-30 widening project now in its final phase
SUMMARY: The final phase of the I-30 widening project has begun after years of delays, with the latest closure affecting Exit 111 in Seline County for five weeks. Though this closure may frustrate drivers, it marks the last major construction effort. Since 2019, the project has aimed to expand I-30 to six lanes and has faced various issues along the way, costing $22 million. As crews wrap up construction, detours will guide drivers towards Highway 70. Additionally, a project to expand Highway 5 is underway to alleviate traffic congestion in the area, aiming for completion by the end of the year.
After years of construction, the long-awaited final phase of the I-30 widening project in Saline County has finally begun.
