Amber Spradlin case: McKinney III bond reduction request denied
SUMMARY: A motion to lower the bond for Michael MK McKenny III, a defendant in the Amber Spradlin murder case, has been denied, keeping his bond at $5 million. SUMMARY: Winter weather is approaching Kentucky, with temperatures dropping to the low 40s and feeling like the upper 30s. A winter weather advisory is set for Southeastern Kentucky tomorrow night through early Friday, highlighting the potential for accumulating snowfall, especially in higher elevations. Snow is expected to start late Thursday evening, with the possibility of a wintry mix overnight. While most areas may see only light accumulations, Southeastern Kentucky could receive up to four inches of snow. Temperature highs will remain in the 30s, but a warm-up is expected by the weekend, potentially reaching 60 by Monday.

SUMMARY: The Kentucky Attorney General’s office conducted a drawing to select 12 counties for a postelection inquiry aimed at protecting ballot integrity. The selected counties include Callaway, Davis, Jefferson, Jesson, Bole, Baron, Warren, Campbell, Metcalfe, Edmonson, Lincoln, and Trigg. Throughout the year, the office monitors potential election law violations via a hotline, which received over 700 messages, including nearly 350 on Election Day. Each inquiry is investigated seriously, emphasizing the stewardship of elected officials to ensure fair and secure elections. Findings from the investigations will be presented to a grand jury in the audited counties.
The Kentucky Attorney General’s office held a drawing on Wednesday randomly selecting 12 counties to go through a post-election day inquiry.

19-year-old arrested in shooting that injured himself and 2 LMPD officers during Smoketown incident
SUMMARY: An arrest has been made following a shooting involving two LMPD officers during a traffic stop in Smoketown. The suspect, 19-year-old Jeremiah Thompson, has been charged with assaulting a police officer and was driving a stolen Kia Soul. A struggle over a gun led to the shooting, injuring one officer in the hand and the other in the leg. Fortunately, all three individuals involved, including Thompson, are in stable condition and expected to recover. The police emphasize the dangers of their proactive work, and they are seeking any surveillance footage from the public.
