4 The Record: Race for U.S. House District 4 Part 4
SUMMARY: Sue Pearl, a beloved figure in Greenville County’s Greasy Corner neighborhood, was posthumously recognized after her family struggled to afford a grave marker following her death. Known as the “Mayor of Greasy Corner,” she served as a crucial link between the Black community and local leaders during segregation, ensuring families were fed and educating youths. Despite her significant contributions, her grave remained unmarked for 40 years. Inspired by her legacy, community members rallied to fund a memorial, summarizing her values of service and faith with the inscription: “I fought a good fight. I finished my course.”

What is the electoral college?
SUMMARY: The Electoral College has sparked significant debate, with two-thirds of Americans favoring a switch to a popular vote for presidential elections. The system allocates electors to states based on population, complicating direct voter influence. Critics highlight instances where candidates lost the popular vote yet won the presidency, while supporters argue it encourages candidates to engage beyond major urban areas. The issue gained prominence after Hillary Clinton won the popular vote but lost the 2016 election due to the Electoral College. The divide is evident, with Democrats more supportive of a popular vote approach. What are your thoughts on this debate?
Still confused about the electoral vote versus the popular vote? We are here to break it all down for you
