SUMMARY: After years of poor performance, the Mobile Housing Authority (MHA) is improving, transitioning from “troubled” to “substandard,” according to Executive Director Michael Pierce. MHA was under probation by HUD in 2017 due to various issues, poor management and insufficient facility compliance. Since then, MHA has resolved 47 HUD complaints, leading to better financial stability and increased occupancy rates from 61% to 98%. As MHA shifts to a voucher system, HUD will more for vouchers and property improvements. Major renovations are planned for public housing sites over the next five years, marking a significant turnaround for the agency.

On Friday, the Mobile Housing Authority held a press conference to announce their recent upgrade of being a ‘substandard’ agency by the Housing and Urban after years of troubles.

SUMMARY: A 15-year-old boy tragically died in a single-vehicle in Dekalb County on Thursday morning. According to the Alabama Enforcement Agency, the teen lost control of the vehicle, which veered off the roadway, collided with several trees and a large boulder, and ultimately entered a pond. This incident highlights the dangers of driving and the potential consequences of losing control on the road. Additionally, it is noted that a officer resigned from the Greeley Police Department in January, though this detail appears unrelated to the accident.
