Turkey frying safety tips
SUMMARY: In Southeast Louisiana, fried turkeys are a Thanksgiving tradition, but safety is crucial. To ensure a safe deep-frying experience, it’s important to use a completely thawed turkey to avoid oil splattering, which can lead to fires. A general guideline for thawing is one day for every 4 to 5 pounds of turkey; for instance, a 16-pound turkey requires four days to fully thaw. Additionally, always turn off the fryer before lowering the turkey and never leave it unattended during the cooking process.
Fried turkey’s are a longtime staple on thanksgiving tables- especially here in Louisiana.
