Baltimore bridge collapse: Cargo ship company pays | FOX 5 News

SUMMARY: The operators of a cargo ship involved in the Baltimore bridge collapse have settled with the Department of Justice, agreeing to pay $12 million in cleanup costs. The Singapore-based owner and of the dolly container ship caused the incident, which resulted in six fatalities when the vessel struck the Francis Scott Key bridge. However, this settlement does not include funds for rebuilding the bridge, which is projected to cost around $2 .

The operators of a cargo ship that caused the deadly Baltimore bridge collapse has reached a major settlement with the Department of Justice. The Singapore-based owner and manager of the Dali container ship agreed to pay $102 million in clean-up costs.

Clerical error causes duplicate absentee ballots for some voters in Athens

Georgia woman gets 12-year prison sentence for $30M COVID-19 scheme | Georgia

SUMMARY: Tyshion Nautese Hicks, a 32-year-old Georgia woman, has been to 12 years in prison for her involvement in a major fraud scheme. She conspired to file over 5,000 fraudulent unemployment claims, stealing at least $30 million in designed to aid those impacted by the pandemic. Hicks and her co-conspirators created fake employers and used stolen personal information from victims to submit the claims. In addition to her prison term, she faces three years of supervised release and must pay restitution. Seven of Hicks’ accomplices have also pleaded guilty or been sentenced.
