DMV computer glitch could keep 1,900 teens from voting in South Carolina
SUMMARY: The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) has filed a lawsuit claiming that thousands of eligible South Carolina voters, particularly 17-year-olds who would turn 18 by election day, were denied proper voter registration. This issue came to light when Kate Counts discovered that her son Noah’s registration was never processed after they visited the DMV. The ACLU’s lawsuit targets the DMV and the State Election Commission, citing over 17,000 similar cases. While the lawsuit has sparked anger and relief from affected families, Counts confirmed that her son managed to register before the deadline and will vote on November 5th.
