United Way hosts medical insurance counseling program
SUMMARY: The State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) offers support for individuals aged 65 and older, providing trained volunteers to assist with Medicare questions, policy comparisons, paperwork, claims, and filing appeals. They help seniors and caregivers understand Medicare benefits and explore long-term care options. SHIP volunteer William Vickers advises regularly reviewing insurance plans, as coverage can change yearly, potentially leading to unexpected costs when necessary medications are no longer covered. United Way will provide this service from October 15 to December 7 at their North Hills and Meridian locations.
