Event being held in Jackson to promote future STEM career opportunities for middle school girls
SUMMARY: The American Heart Association’s metro Jackson affiliate will host its inaugural “STEM Goes Red” event on Monday at the Mississippi Children‘s Museum, aimed at inspiring middle school girls to pursue careers in STEM fields. Featuring industry leaders from Ergon, Nissan, and others, the program emphasizes increasing female representation in science careers. Dr. Nashlie H. Sephus, a technology evangelist at Amazon Web Services, will be the keynote speaker. The initiative is critical due to economic projections indicating up to 2.4 million unfilled STEM jobs and low retention rates of women in these fields.
