State police said Charles Baguio Jr., 81 of Independence died after crash in Hammond.
SUMMARY: Mik McDaniel, a former high school football coach, has died in a crash in TBO Parish. State Police report that Charles Bago Jr. was driving on Highway 51 outside Hammond when he collided with another vehicle at an intersection. After checking on the other driver, Bago was struck by an oncoming pickup truck and pronounced dead at the scene. Bago coached at Independent High School for 34 years and later served as LSU’s football operations coordinator until his retirement in 2021. He was 81 years old at the time of his death.
