Legal battle over Texas death row inmate's testimony continues
SUMMARY: Texas lawmakers remain uncertain about the fate of death row inmate Robert Roberson, whose innocence claim has led to a contentious legal battle. A bipartisan committee seeks to hear his testimony, but Governor Greg Abbott and Attorney General Ken Paxton are obstructing efforts for an in-person appearance. Recent hearings featured testimonies from jurors and a former judge supporting a new trial for Roberson, who was convicted based on debunked โshaken baby syndromeโ evidence. Legal experts suggest potential changes in the Court of Criminal Appeals could influence outcomes. The committee chair believes they will eventually secure Roberson’s testimony.
State lawmakers are being vague about what’s next for death row inmate Robert Roberson, who was convicted of killing his 2-year-old daughter in 2002. A bipartisan committee helped to stop his execution by asking to hear from him directly, but the governor and attorney general are blocking attempts to hear his comments in person.

SUMMARY: Angelica Vivas, a Katy woman, is scheduled to appear in court for charges of practicing dentistry without a license, specifically for performing a root canal that caused significant pain to a patient.
