Clancy's Commentary: Voting for Amendment 1 is a no-brainer
SUMMARY: On November 5th, Louisiana voters will not only engage in the presidential race but also decide on an important constitutional amendment. Political analyst Clancy Dubos highlights the need for funding to combat coastal erosion. While funds from offshore oil and gas royalties, established in 2006, and BP oil spill settlements have aided these efforts, they are dwindling. Amendment One proposes to allocate revenues from alternative energy sources, like wind and solar, for coastal restoration, mirroring current practices for oil and gas revenues. Dubos argues that supporting Amendment One is a straightforward decision for voters.
By voting “yes,โ we can dedicate offshore revenues from alternative energy production.
