It’s not unusual for voters not to know what’s on the ballot
SUMMARY: Voting is seen as a crucial duty, especially for those who remember the struggles for voting rights in the 1960s. With the general election just two weeks away, candidates like VP Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump are in the spotlight, but many voters are unaware of the other races on Mississippi’s ballot. Zach Wallace, Hinds County Circuit Clerk, emphasizes the importance of being informed about all candidates before voting. There are a total of 12 additional races, including those for Senate and congressional districts. Voters can contact local offices for sample ballots and candidate information to make educated choices.

SUMMARY: As Mississippi enters its typical respiratory virus season, the Mississippi State Department of Health is urging everyone to receive updated vaccinations. Respiratory viruses like flu, RSV, and COVID usually see heightened rates in fall and winter, partly due to increased indoor gatherings. The MSDH recommends that individuals aged 6 months and older get the updated flu and COVID vaccines each season. Additionally, protection against RSV is advised for infants and older adults.
