Tax cut would give back $1B back to Georgians | Georgia
SUMMARY: Georgia Governor Brian Kemp announced a $1 billion income tax cut, providing $250 for single filers, $375 for heads of household, and $500 for married couples for the 2024 tax year. Kemp emphasized that this money belongs to taxpayers, not the government. House Speaker Jon Burns praised the state‘s ability to return money to citizens, citing a $19 billion budget surplus despite national economic challenges. Kemp stated that this tax relief effort, totaling $6.6 billion in recent cuts, will continue, especially to assist those affected by recent storms. The individual income tax rate will also gradually decrease.
