Man charged with Trafficking of Marijuana in Clay Co.
SUMMARY: Dalentez Lane, a 30-year-old man from West Point, Mississippi, has been charged with trafficking marijuana after a police operation on October 20. Law enforcement, including the Clay County Sheriff’s Office and Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, discovered approximately 3.5 pounds of marijuana, firearms, and around $6,000 in cash during the arrest. The estimated street value of the drugs is between $15,000 and $25,000. Lane’s bond is set at $10,000, and he will appear in Clay County Justice Court for an initial hearing.

Tracking the Tropics: Hurricane Oscar misses Florida in active October
SUMMARY: Tropical Storm Oscar is currently moving through the central and southeastern Bahamas, located about 70 miles east-southeast of Long Island. It has maximum sustained winds of 40 mph and is traveling northeast at 12 mph. The storm is expected to continue its fast northeastward motion over the next few days and will move away from the Bahamas by Tuesday night or Wednesday. A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for the southeastern Bahamas, as the National Hurricane Center monitors its progression.

New administrator hired for Oktibbeha Co. Board of Supervisors
SUMMARY: Oktibbeha County, Mississippi, has appointed Wayne Carpenter as the new county administrator, following the departure of Delois Farmer in July.
