Communications tower involved in Houston helicopter crash had recently been sold
SUMMARY: Tributes are pouring in for four victims of a helicopter crash in Houston, including three family members on a city tour. The Robinson R44 helicopter crashed around 8 p.m. on Sunday, hitting a communication tower. Surveillance showed the helicopter making a sightseeing path before veering north. The FAA had previously warned about potential lighting issues on the 1,000 ft tower, known to be an obstruction. The NTSB is investigating the crash, with local residents reporting debris scattered throughout the area. Authorities are meticulously examining the scene while road closures remain in effect as they gather evidence.
The communications tower that went down in Sunday night’s fiery Houston helicopter crash was initially built in 1987, Federal Communications Commission records show.

Man killed his Lewisville co-worker because she took long breaks, court docs show
SUMMARY: Lewisville Police have charged 51-year-old Travis Merill with murder after he killed his coworker, Tamara Colazo, driven by an obsession over her breaks at work. Documents reveal that after Colazo reported his behavior, Merril devised a plan to murder her in front of coworkers, feeling she had caused him pain. On October 17, he entered their workplace with two revolvers and shot Colazo five times. Neighbors described Merill as odd but unaware of his violent intentions until informed by news outlets. Merill has been jailed with a $10 million bond. The incident left dozens of coworkers in shock.
An arrest warrant affidavit says 51-year-old Travis Merrill shot and killed his co-worker at Allegiance Trucks because he was obsessed with her, and he was angry that she was taking long work breaks.

Robert Roberson hearing: Ex-juror, lawyers, Dr. Phil testify in 'shaken baby syndrome' hearing
SUMMARY: A juror from the trial of death row inmate Robert Roberson testified that she now believes he is innocent after learning new evidence. Roberson, convicted in 2002 of killing his 2-year-old daughter, was initially sentenced based solely on shaken baby syndrome, a diagnosis now challenged by recent medical science. His execution was postponed last week as a Texas House committee debated whether he could testify in person or via video; ultimately, he did not appear. Advocates, including author John Grisham and TV host Dr. Phil, are pushing for a retrial, citing potential miscarriages of justice in the case.
A man on death row who was set to testify before members of the Texas Legislature on Monday afternoon did not do so after all. Dr. Phil and author John Grisham testified, as well as a former juror in the trial.
