Investigators subsequently sought a DNA comparison with a woman believed to be Mary’s mother, but upon executing a warrant at her home, they discovered she had died by suicide, leaving a letter claiming her connection to Mary.

On December 21, 1993, a newborn baby was found dead on I-10 near the Lorraine Road exit in Gulfport.
