Warming Up This Week, Little to No Rain Expected: Sunday Evening Forecast 10/20/2024
SUMMARY: Meteorologist Grant Skinner reports that Hurricane Oscar made landfall as a Category 1 hurricane, but it is expected to quickly weaken as it moves over land and later northeast into the Atlantic, posing no threat to the U.S. This week will bring dry weather with rising temperatures, reaching the low to mid-80s. High pressure will dominate the Eastern U.S., providing sunny skies without rain chances. Early mornings may require jackets, but afternoons will be warm. A weak front on Thursday may not significantly affect moisture or temperatures, maintaining a pleasant weather pattern throughout the week.
It was another cool morning, but we quickly warmed up today to around 80°. The clear and quiet conditions will continue this evening, and we will drop into the upper-40’s inland with low- to mid-50’s closer to the coastline. Monday will bring more warm temperatures into the low-80’s by the afternoon. As an upper level ridge moves over the area, dry conditions will continue into Monday. On the backside of the ridge and ahead of our next front, we will see a warming trend through the middle of the week with highs pushing into the mid-80’s and lows reaching around 60°. A few more clouds will push into the area, but most places will see plenty of sunshine throughout the next week. The front will pass Thursday, but no rain chances are expected, and we will not see much cooling. In the tropics, we are tracking Nadine and Oscar. Nadine is now remnants but is still bringing rainfall to portions of southern Mexico and central America. Oscar is impacting Cuba, and land interaction will cause this system to weaken into a tropical storm before a shortwave trough quickly pushes this out into the open Atlantic. There are no threats to the U.S. in the tropics!
