Lee Co. man drowns in Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway
SUMMARY: Joseph Roy West, a 55-year-old man from Shannon, Mississippi, drowned in the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway while fishing on October 19. After falling into approximately 14 feet of water, he did not resurface, and his body was recovered by Monroe County Search and Rescue at 5:39 p.m. The coroner ruled the death as accidental drowning, and no autopsy will be performed. The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks is conducting an investigation into the incident.
