Saturday 10pm Tropical Update: Nadine moves inland in southern Mexico, Hurricane Oscar near Bahamas
SUMMARY: Hurricane Oscar has developed near the Bahamas as a category one storm, bringing gusts up to 105 miles per hour and significant rain, strong winds, and storm surge to the Bahamas, Turks and Caicos, and potentially parts of Cuba in the coming days. Meanwhile, tropical storm Naen is weakening but will still produce heavy rain in southern Mexico. Over the next week, the Gulf of Mexico and the Gulf Coast will remain free from tropical concerns, with no threats to the continental United States. Oscar will eventually curve northeast into the open Atlantic by early next week.
Meteorologist Alexa Trischler says Nadine is expected to weaken. Hurricane Oscar is a category 1 storm with impacts to Bahamas, Turks and Caicos Islands.

Kmartโs blue light fades to black with the shuttering of its last full-scale US store
SUMMARY: Kmart shoppers face the end of an era as the last full-size Kmart in the continental U.S. closes its doors in Bridgehampton, New York. Weekend Weather: Sunday, Oct. 20
SUMMARY: Sunday’s forecast promises beautiful weather, with temperatures climbing into the high 70s, peaking around 79ยฐF, our average for late October. Evening temperatures will drop back into the 60s as days get shorter. Little wind is expected, except near the lakefront where a small craft advisory is in place. A warming trend will continue into the week, with highs reaching the low 80s until a cool front arrives later. Conditions will remain dry with consistent sunshine, and no rain is anticipated in the next week. Two named systems in the Gulf are being monitored, but minimal development is expected.

HAMMOND FIRE
SUMMARY: A fire near Lowe’s in Hammond shut down a portion of Highway 190 West for about four hours this morning. The large blaze originated in an abandoned warehouse filled with vehicles, which contributed to its intensity. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Hammond’s fire chief noted a recent increase in such fires within the parish, highlighting that the fire crews are well trained and prepared for these incidents. Investigators are currently looking into the fire, which required multiple crews to extinguish.
