Hawaii teen in kayak rescued after 11 hours

SUMMARY: A Hawaii lifeguard recounted a dramatic rescue captured on camera by the Coast Guard. A teenager became separated from his school kayaking group in rough seas, losing his paddle. The lifeguard zigzagged across 100 miles of ocean to find him. A Coast Guard aircraft spotted the teen and dropped a flare to guide the lifeguard to his location. Despite drifting for over 11 hours, the teen remained surprisingly calm, while the lifeguard was emotionally overwhelmed with relief. The teen was treated for hypothermia and severe cramping from dehydration but is expected to recover.

Paramedics treated him for hypothermia and said he had a lot of severe cramping due to extreme dehydration, but he should be okay.
