Supreme Court to hear oral arguments on transgender ban | Tennessee
SUMMARY: The U.S. Supreme Court will hear a case on December 4 regarding Tennessee’s Senate Bill 1, which bans gender-affirming treatments for minors. Passed in 2023, the law, signed by Gov. Bill Lee, prohibits surgeries and hormone therapies for minors and was challenged by the ACLU and others for violating the 14th Amendment. ACLU’s Chase Strangio argued the law discriminates against transgender individuals. Tennessee Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti expressed support for the law, stating it protects children from irreversible treatments and aims to clarify constitutional protections for gender identity.

Winter weather outlook for Middle Tennessee
SUMMARY: Meteorologist Davis Nolan discusses this winter’s weather forecast, indicating a likelihood of above-normal temperatures (33-40% chance) for December, January, and February in Atlanta, due to an expected weak El Niño. Precipitation predictions show equal chances of above or below normal. Typically, weak El Niño conditions result in warmer winters with some cold periods but less confidence in specific weather events. Matt Reagan from the National Weather Service noted that a weak El Niño may lead to an earlier and potentially stronger severe weather season from January to March, adding uncertainty to the overall forecast.
Davis Nolan spoke with a National Weather Service meteorologist about how La Niña will affect winter.
