Voters formed long lines, determined not to let the storm hinder their right to vote. Buncombe County Director of Elections, Corinne Duncan, noted efforts to ensure voting continued despite power outages and other damage. Voters who lost their IDs during the storm can request an exception form to still cast their ballots. The commitment of voters, even in cold conditions, showcased the resilience of the community. Superintendent addressing concerns after bus driver strike in Dillon County
SUMMARY: A strike by about a dozen bus drivers in Dylan District 4 left many students stranded at home. The drivers cited safety concerns, claiming that some students are unruly and have threatened them, including one incident where a woman was arrested for threatening a driver. This disruption forced parents to pick up their children, causing hardships for families. District Superintendent Ray Rogers stated that progress has been made towards a resolution. The drivers have agreed to return to work on Friday. The district plans to ensure students who missed school receive excused absences and can make up missed work.
Many parents in Dillon said the school bus did not show up Thursday morning to pick up their children for school.
Several mothers said their children waited at the bus stop for more than an hour in the cold, but the bus never came through.
