NOAA Winter Outlook calls for warmer, drier conditions for Southeast Texas

Fifth Circuit squashes district court ruling on Texas election law, blocks another portion of it | Texas

SUMMARY: The Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals has overturned a district court’s ruling that blocked parts of ‘ election integrity , which went into effect in September 2021. U.S. District Judge Xavier Rodriguez had ruled that the ballot harvesting restriction violated constitutional rights, but the appeals court criticized the timing of his injunction, arguing it could confuse voters close to the election. The Fifth Circuit’s allows the to enforce the law and investigate election violations. Additionally, the Secretary of State’s Office is appealing another ruling affecting the law’s canvassing provisions, further complicating legal interpretations ahead of the election.
