Electoral battleground North Carolina starts early in-person voting while recovering from Helene
SUMMARY: In North Carolina, in-person early voting begins today, allowing eligible voters to cast ballots at any early voting site within their county. Rebuilding Dreams: How to support Western NC businesses in Helene recovery

Update on woman missing in Pickens County after going on hike with dogs, family says

Comet visible to stargazers across Carolinas, Georgia for next several days
SUMMARY: Tonight offers a fantastic opportunity for stargazing with the visibility of Comet Tsuchinshan Atlas, a newly discovered comet first identified in early 2023. Meteorologist Griffin Hardy, reporting from the Roper Mountain Science Center in Greenville, confirms that the weather forecast is perfect for observing this celestial event. The comet, which recently made its closest approach to Earth at about 44 million miles, can be seen low on the western horizon about 30 to 45 minutes after sunset around 6:50 PM. This rare sight will be visible at dusk for approximately another week.
Heads up for stargazersโa comet will be visible in the night sky for the next few nights with your own eyes.
