Tropical Update 10/16/24
SUMMARY: Chief Meteorologist Patrick Bigby provides a tropical update, noting two areas of interest. One near Central America has a 20% chance of developing, but is expected to move inland, posing no threat to the U.S. The second area in the central Atlantic has a 40% chance of forming (down from 60%), but models predict it will weaken due to interaction with a cold front this weekend. Thus, no significant storm development is anticipated, and there is no threat to Mississippi. If it were to develop, the next storm name would be “Naen.”
