Louisville nonprofit sending water filters to states impacted by Hurricane Helene
SUMMARY: The Middletown Fire Department is supporting local nonprofit Water by Women, which is helping those impacted by Hurricane Helene by providing 6,500 water filters to Florida, North Carolina, and Tennessee. Each filter can supply safe drinking water from any source for up to four families, which is crucial as communities face extensive rebuildingโpotentially lasting yearsโdue to severely damaged water infrastructures. Even when water service resumes, boil water advisories may be repeatedly issued. In addition, Water by Women is also collecting further donations to aid affected individuals and families.
