Much colder air is on its way!
SUMMARY: Devin Travers from WDSU Weather warns to prepare for a significant temperature drop. Tomorrow morning will feel much colder, with areas like Poplarville and Slidell dropping to the 40s. In contrast, the tropics show reduced threat from systems in the Atlantic and Caribbean, with development chances downgraded. Sunny skies will accompany cooler temperatures, with highs only reaching the low 70s and gusty winds prompting fire safety warnings. A cold front brings the coldest temperatures by Thursday morning, with some areas potentially seeing the 30s. Warmer weather returns by the weekend, stabilizing around 80 degrees.
Meteorologist Devon Lucie starts us off in the tropics where he’s tracking two zones of possible development showing you where the systems are now, where they’re likely to track, how strong they’ll get, and if it has any chance of reaching the Gulf or Louisiana, then brings us home to our high resolution forecast where he’s tracking the much colder air that will move in tonight, showing you how windy it will be, how cold it will get, and how long this first round of fall chill will last.

Presidential candidates working to win over undecided voters
SUMMARY: With less than three weeks until Election Day, presidential candidates are campaigning in key swing states to influence undecided voters as early voting begins. Former President Trump held a rally in Georgia, urging high voter turnout and addressing criticism over his trade tariffs and comments on the January 6th insurrection. Meanwhile, Vice President Kamala Harris focused on supporting Black voters in Michigan, asserting her commitment beyond election tactics. A judge in Georgia recently blocked a new rule requiring hand-counting of ballots after polls closed, deeming it impractical so close to the election. Early voting is seeing significant participation.
We’re now less than 3 weeks from Election Day.

Morning Forecast – Wednesday, Oct. 16th
SUMMARY: Meteorologist Chase Ward reports clear conditions and cooler temperatures, ranging from the upper 30s to mid-40s across Arkansas and Louisiana. Winds have calmed down, but gusts are still 10 mph in some areas. High pressure is keeping the weather dry and cool, with daytime highs expected in the upper 60s. Tonight, temperatures may drop to the mid-30s, leading to potential frost, while ongoing drought conditions elevate fire risks. No rain is forecasted in the coming week as burn bans remain in effect in several parishes. Meanwhile, two tropical disturbances are being monitored for potential development.
A dry and cool airmass has sketched across the ArkLaMiss overnight which did result in some gusty winds. Winds are still a tad breezy this morning but will calm down later tonight. Quite chilly conditions are expected as we fall to the lower 40’s and upper 30’s tonight. We will get a nice taste of fall as we close this week. Forecast looks to stay dry looking more long term into next week, and temperatures could warm back up above average into the 80’s.
