Why are property taxes increasing in Lauderdale County, News 11 spoke with more county officials…
SUMMARY: Lauderdale County is undergoing a property reassessment, which occurs every four years and has seen property values rise by 20% due to increased housing and construction costs. In light of this, the County Board of Supervisors cut $4.5 million from various projects to avoid raising the millage rate. While some properties saw value reductions, many increased. Consequently, this reassessment, along with the current millage rate of 118.56, influences the taxes owed by residents. The supervisors aimed to manage the budget effectively without imposing additional tax burdens.
