4 The Record: Addiction and Recovery Part 4
SUMMARY: In Greenwood, teacher Shelby Scruggs began her first full year at Emerald High School, where her father, Coach John Mark Scruggs, has been a beloved figure for over 20 years. However, the school year started unexpectedly for the family as Coach Scruggs was undergoing treatment for an aggressive form of cancer. Students and former players have shown their support, asking about his return and organizing a “Coach Scruggs Fun Day” in his honor. Recently, he completed his treatment and plans to return to teaching and coaching, marking a hopeful transition for the family and the school community.
