Lauderdale County 2024 Property Taxes increasing by 20%
SUMMARY: In November, Lauderdale County residents will receive tax bills reflecting a 20% increase for property taxes, marking the first increase in several years. This increase applies to all property owners, including those in Meridian, despite the city having lowered its property taxes. Due to a new assessment, property values across the county have risen by 20%. However, individuals over 65 years old are exempt from the increase unless there’s a change in the millage rate, following a law enacted two years ago. Tax assessments are required every four years, which necessitated this adjustment.
