HPD gives update on deadly crash on Katy Freeway feeder road
SUMMARY: A fatal crash occurred involving a vehicle traveling westbound on the feeder road of the KD freeway. The vehicle lost control in the middle lane, struck a pole, and the driver was ejected through the windshield, leading to his death at the scene. Witnesses reported the vehicle was speeding, and another person was seen limping away from the scene; however, this individual’s identity is unknown. It appears the driver was not wearing a seatbelt. Investigations are ongoing, including the collection of surveillance footage, while the area will remain closed for about an hour as authorities complete their work.
Houston police said a person died in a crash on the westbound lanes of the Katy Freeway feeder road in the early-morning hours of Monday, Oct. 14, 2024.

FULL NEWS CONFERENCE: Police investigating double homicide in SE Austin | FOX 7 Austin
SUMMARY: This morning at 7:30 a.m., Austin Police Department (APD) responded to a call about two deceased individuals in the 1800 block of Burton Drive. Officers found a male and female in their early 20s with apparent gunshot wounds; they could not provide medical aid as the individuals had likely been there for some time. APD is investigating this incident as Austin’s 51st and 52nd homicides of 2024. Detectives and patrol officers are canvassing the area, and surveillance footage is being reviewed. Authorities encourage anyone with information to contact the homicide tip line or Crime Stoppers.
