Hurricane Milton marks busy hurricane season for Florida | Florida
SUMMARY: Florida has faced 11 major hurricanes since 2004, with this year seeing significant storms like Helene and Milton, and a weaker storm, Debby. Notably, Debby and Helene impacted the Big Bend region. Governor Ron DeSantis reported that 3.8 million electric accounts have been restored post-Milton, which resulted in 16 fatalities. Restoration efforts include 50,000 linemen and 2,500 fuel trucks distributing essential supplies. The state will allocate $9.5 million to aid recovery at Port Manatee. While hurricane season continues until November 30, the peak has passed, following historical patterns of fluctuating cyclone impacts in Florida.

Rising water in rivers being monitored after Milton
SUMMARY: This morning, the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office is monitoring flooding concerns from Hurricane Milton along Cypress Creek and the Eno River. Neighboring areas, including Zephyrhills and Wesley Chapel, have seen significant flooding, leading to road closures and evacuation warnings for those in low-lying regions. Rescue crews, including the sheriff’s office and state guard, used airboats to help residents escape over the weekend, as many faced rising waters threatening their homes. In some neighborhoods, such as Silver Oaks, water levels reached residents’ doorsteps, causing substantial property damage and leaving many without flood insurance. Efforts continue as rescues are ongoing.

Tania Francois on the road with Caravan of Hope
SUMMARY: At 10:24 a.m., we stopped at a 7-Eleven near Exit 111 to fill our cars with gasoline due to uncertainty about fuel availability at our destination. Although we were informed there would be gas for our return trip, we decided to take the opportunity to refuel while parked. Additionally, we picked up some energy drinks to keep us going for the remainder of our journey.
