Hurricane Milton update: Florida neighborhood evacuated as floodwaters continue to rise
SUMMARY: In Claremont, evacuations are underway due to rising water levels following Hurricane Helen. Power is out, and police are assisting with evacuations near Lighthouse Lane, where water on the roads has reached above knee level, preventing vehicle access. The city issued the evacuation order earlier today, affecting homes near the lake. Most residents have evacuated, but a few have chosen to stay. Officers remain on-site to assist anyone who decides to leave. Fox 35’s Chris Lindsay reports live from the scene, highlighting the ongoing safety efforts in the community.
The Emerald Lake mobile home park in Clermont, Florida, was evacuated on Sunday as floodwaters began to rise. An officer told FOX 35’s Chris Lindsay that not everyone complied with the voluntary evacuation. Some areas are expected to flood as rainfall and water from Hurricane Milton hits rivers and lakes.

Tropics update: Disturbance, Invest 94L, being watched in Atlantic
SUMMARY: Currently, there’s a tropical system moving into the central Atlantic that could develop into a tropical storm, but there’s no immediate concern. Central Florida is still recovering from storms Helen and Milton. Fortunately, high pressure is expected to dominate the region, steering any potential tropical activity away from Florida. A tropical wave may develop later this week, which is atypical for this time of year, but the high pressure will help push it back into the central Atlantic and bring cool, dry air to Central Florida, blocking tropical moisture and potentially mitigating storm impacts.
The National Hurricane Center is monitoring a disturbance in the far east Atlantic, named Invest 94L, for potential development over the next seven days. As of 11 p.m. Sunday, the disturbance has a 40% chance of development.

Long lines for gas as stations run out around the Tampa Bay area
SUMMARY: At Port Tampa Bay, efforts are underway to distribute fuel to the community, with a steady flow of trucks. However, many residents, like Pasco County’s Lady Rollins, are still struggling to find gas after evacuating for Hurricane Milton. Rollins faced long lines and hours spent searching for an open pump. Despite reports of adequate fuel supply, delays stem from power outages caused by the hurricane, preventing safe loading operations. Port officials are optimistic about fully reopening terminals and increasing fuel shipments soon. As frustration mounts among residents, approximately half of Florida’s fuel supply relies on this port.
Officials are working to get gas from the port to residents.
