They claim funds intended for disaster relief are being redirected to illegal border crossers, despite Mayorkas’ caution that FEMA may lack sufficient resources for hurricane recovery. After Hurricane Helene caused an estimated $47.5 in damages, FEMA allocated over $350 million for aid, with more assistance pending. The committee accuses the Biden-Harris administration of mismanaging funds, focusing on border aid instead of immediate disaster relief, and has set an Oct. 25 deadline for Mayorkas to respond.
