In private school action, Jackson Prep dominated PCS, winning 56-10, and Tri-County beat Clinton Christian 48-6. Cathedral fell to St. Joe 31-28. The feature player was Callaway’s Marvin Moore, who scored multiple touchdowns, showcasing the strength of local football talent.

Hattiesburg VFW hurricane relief drive wrapping up Saturday
SUMMARY: The Hattiesburg area veterans community is actively organizing a Hurricane Relief effort for Florida storm survivors, culminating in an all-day disaster relief drive at VFW Post 3036. Initially, supplies were scarce, but community support has surged, providing food, clothing, hygiene products, and pet supplies. VFW member Dick Vogle has sourced additional items with donated funds from local organizations. The collected supplies will be shipped to St. Petersburg, Florida, where a VFW Post will distribute them. The drive runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Donations are also being accepted through Grey Media and the Salvation Army.

Latest Hattiesburg Fire Department recruit training underway
SUMMARY: The Hattiesburg Fire Training Academy has welcomed a new class of seven recruits for a 14-week training program, which has expanded from the previous 12 weeks due to curriculum updates. Training includes firefighting techniques, hazardous materials response, and emergency medical response, combining physical, hands-on skills with academic instruction covering 32 chapters. The program emphasizes integrity, morals, and discipline to prepare recruits to serve the public effectively.
