Hurricane MIlton leaves deadly trail of destruction
SUMMARY: Hurricane Milton has caused nearly a dozen deaths in Florida and left extensive damage in its wake. It knocked out power for over 3 million homes, flooded barrier islands, and triggered a deadly tornado outbreak, particularly in St. Lucie County where six fatalities occurred. The hurricane hit as a category 3 storm, generating winds over 100 mph and causing significant destruction. Rescue efforts are ongoing, with over 700 rescues executed in Hillsborough County, including a 14-year-old boy and a man stranded at sea. Federal officials are assuring aid for storm victims but emphasize the need for additional recovery funding.

Man accused of killing Dallas 7-Eleven clerk was IDed by 5 witnesses before arrest made
SUMMARY: Demarcus Miller, 38, was arrested this week for the June 2022 murder of 7-Eleven clerk Nathaniel Ogalo in Dallas. Detectives identified Miller as a suspect shortly after the crime, which occurred during a robbery in front of Ogalo’s wife. Despite multiple witnesses naming him, Miller was initially released after questioning related to another charge. In July 2023, while in custody for assault, police seized his phone, finding photos of him in clothing similar to that worn during the murder. Miller’s arrest followed ongoing tips and investigation, and he now faces capital murder charges with a $2.5 million bond.
In July 2023, Demarcus Miller was arrested for an unrelated charge of assault of a family member. While in custody, Dallas detectives questioned him about the store clerk’s murder. He denied any involvement and was released.
